  • How to Create Silver and Green Chrome Buttons

    Author: 2008-12-30 13:05:03 From:

These are silver chrome buttons with a green bullet on the left side. I applied a style to the buttons, to the bullets, and to the text. Please see the image that I have provided to see the end results of this tutorial. These buttons are fairly easy to create. There are three parts to this tutorial. The first part is creating the button background. The second part is creating the round bullet. The third part is creating the text. In this tutorial I will show you how to create these silver and green chrome buttons in Fireworks CS3.

We will create the first button and then we will duplicate the other buttons. That is the easiest way to create these buttons. Go ahead and create a new canvas to work on. Then select your rectangle tool and draw your button on the canvas. Draw the button the size that you want it.

Next, you will need to apply the style to the button. The style that you will need to apply is the Chrome Reflective 012 style. You can see the names of the style by placing your mouse over them. The name of the style will appear in the bottom of the styles panel. Click the style to apply it.

Now we will add the round bullet. Get your circle tool from your tool panel. Hold the shift key down and draw your circle. Draw the circle the size that you want it. Drag the circle onto the button. Then apply the Text Effect Small 010 style to the circle. Then apply an emboss to the circle. Click Filters > Bevel and Emboss > Inset Emboss.

Now we will create the other buttons before adding the text. The easiest way to move the buttons is to create one image. So, click the button to highlight it. Hold shift down and select the circle to highlight it. Right click on the button and click Flatten Selection. That will make it one image and you won't have to move the button and the circle.

Now we will duplicate the other buttons that we need. Right click on the button and click Edit > Duplicate. Drag the duplicated button below the original button. Duplicate the other buttons that you need.

Now you can add the text to the buttons. I used the Bodoni Bk BT font style for my font. You can use the font style that you want to use. I applied the same style to the text that I applied to the bullet.
