Step 1 - Creating the Background of the Kneeling Angel Header
The first step is to create the background. Grab your rectangle tool and draw a rectangle the size that you want it. The size will depend on what size you want the header to be. Then you will need to apply a style. The style that you will need to apply is the Text Effect Medium 014. Locate that style and click it. If your styles panel is not open, you can click Window > Styles at the top of your window to open it.
Step 2 - Creating the Angels for the Header
The second step is to create the angels. We will create the first angel and then we will duplicate the other angel. You will need to have the JFC dingbat installed to create the angels. If you do not have it installed, do a search on Google to find it and download it. Then install it and you can finish this tutorial.
Get your text tool and draw a text box on the header. Type the letter d in the text box. That is a lowercase d. I have the size of my angels set to 120. You can set them to the size that you want. Next, you will need to apply a style. Apply the Text Effect Small 020 style to the angel. Make sure the bold button is not pressed.
Now you are ready to duplicate the other angel. Click the angel to select it. Right click on the angel and click Edit > Duplicate in the drop down menu. Drag the duplicated angel to the other side of the header. Go to the top of your Fireworks CS3 window and click Modify > Transform > Flip Horizontal. There's your other angel.
Step 3 - Adding Text to your Kneeling Angel Header
The last step is to add the text to the header. Grab your text tool again and type what you want on your header. I applied the same style to the text that I applied to the angels. I applied the Text Effect Small 020 to the text. I made the text bold to make it stand out a little more.
