Thick Scanline effect in Fireworks
This effect is popular and easy to apply to images. You can also use Fireworks MX 2004 to get this effect.
Step 1
Paste an image on the canvas.
Step 2
Select the Rectangle tool from the toolbox and draw a rectangle over the image. The rectangle can be any color for now.

Step 3
Select Texture from Properties and choose Line Horizontal-3. Give the Texture Amount to 50%.
Step 4
Go to Layers and change the opacity of the rectangle to 35. Now try changing the color of the rectangle to match the image. Here's the final image! Try playing around with the different textures and shades, you might come up with some extraordinary effects!
