This is the first tutorial on this blog, and it¡¯s in Fireworks. It¡¯s about creating web 2.0 style reflection effects. Here¡¯s an example of the effect.

So, let¡¯s begin with the process.
1. Create a new document, any size. I usually use 800¡Á600 px.
Select the Text tool (T) and write some text (I wrote TechSymptom), size 45, font Trebuchet MS.
2. In the Properties toolbar click the background icon -> Fill options -> Gradient -> Linear. Now, click the background icon again and set colors like they¡¯re on the image below.

3. Click once on the text you wrote and copy paste it. Drag the second text a bit lower than the first one and go to Modify -> Transform -> Flip vertical. Now, click twice on the flipped text and (if you wrote TechSymptom) select y letter. Then go to Baseline shift field (in the Properties toolbar) and set value to 19. Then select p letter and set Baseline shift value to 19. Set the flipped text like I did on the image below.

4. After you did that, select the flipped text and go to Commands -> Creative -> Fade image. Select the fade effect bordered with the white color.

5. Now, you just set the fade effect the way you like and you should get something that¡¯s similar to the text on the image below.

That¡¯s all. If you have problems with creating the effect, write them in comments.
