  • FLA Optimization - The Final Analysis

    Author: 2007-06-06 16:48:14 From:

So what becomes of all your cutting and trimming? Well after optimising your sounds and images, you'll be able to see the evidence in the file size report generated when you export your movie. To opt for the report, Choose File> Publish Settings, select the Flash Tab and check the Generate Size Report option.

When you publish a separate file will be created that should look something like the text on the next page. This will give you an indication of how your movie is broken up.

You will be able to tell if your animation requires a bit of trimming. The report will itemize each element in your movie and tell you how big they are - right down to the fonts! Perfect for macro-optimisation. You will be able to see what takes up too much bandwidth, thus creating a bottleneck in your streaming and look for alternatives with are smaller.

As for preloaders, your report will tell you if you have missed anything. (the majority of information should be in your first few frames, the rest much smaller (around 2 - 100 bytes).

    That's it folks, Happy Flashing!
