In this step by step flash lesson, I will teach you how to make a practical text effect for the new 2009 year. Using this text effect, you will also learn how to break apart any text, how to set each letter in a separate layer and much more! You can use this effect for any flash header, banner, text presentation, animation. You don't have to use action script code to make this lesson!

Step 1

Create a new flash document. Press Ctrl+J key on the keyboard (Document Properties) and set the dimensions of your document as whatever you like. Select any color as background color. Set your Flash movie's frame rate to 62 and click ok.



Step 2

It's time for text, so take the Text Tool (A), choose any font, any size, color and type "Happy new 2009 year". See the picture below!



Step 3

While the text is still selected, choose Modify > Break Apart (Ctrl+B).



Now, you get this:



Step 4

Choose now Modify > Timeline > Distribute to Layers (Ctrl+Shift+D).



Now, you're place every latter in a separate layer. See the picture below!



Step 5

Right-click anywhere on the gray area between frame 1 and 5 and frame 5 and 10 on the timeline and choose Create Motion Tween from the menu that appears.



Step 6

Click now on frame 5 and 10 of layer H and press F6 key. Go back now on frame 5 and go to the Properties Panel (Ctrl+F3) below the stage. After that, in Color drop down menu choose Tint and change the color of the letter H in red. See the picture below!





Step 7

Click now on frame 10,15 and 20 of layer A and press F6 key.

Step 8

Right-click anywhere on the gray area between frame 10 and 15 and frame 15 and 20 on the timeline and choose Create Motion Tween from the menu that appears.



Step 9

Go back now on frame 15, select the Selection Tool (V) and click once on the letter A to select it. Then, go again to the Properties Panel (Ctrl+F3) below the stage. Then, for Color drop down menu choose Tint and change the color of the letter H in red as we did in Step 6!

Step 10

Select now frame 20 of layer H and press F5 key.



Step 11

Now, we're done with the first two letters. Repeat this process for all the other letters until you reach the end!

That's it!
