  • Change context menu of Flash

    Author: 2007-06-13 08:46:19 From:

See that context menu that allows the user to stop and play the Flash content?

Those are the default menu items that appear when you publish Flash. They are produced by the Flash Player and not your browser, so they should be the same regardless of which browser you are using.

That moving text does get annoying after a while doesn't it? Hence the menu allows user to stop the Flash content. This is best practice and is typically preferred.

However, if for some reason, you want to remove those menu items, go to File -> Publish Settings -> HTML and uncheck Display Menu.

And the below is what you get...

But I still see a menu? Yes, but a much more limited menu.

Unfortunately, there is no way for you to remove the menu completely.

There is no change in the actual swf file. The only change was in the HTML code of the object and embed tags as shown...

Note that if you had converted your object and embed tags to eliminate Internet Explorer's "Click here to activate" feature, then you would need to make the appropriate changes in the Javascript.
