In this opportunity, we will partially modify the color in an image.

First step, we are going to select the area that will be modified, in order that the modification does not alter to the colors of the background and other objects within the image:

Defined this, maintaining the selection, ¡°we duplicated the layer¡± and we eliminated everything what we did not wish that changes of color; we obtain the following result:

To the selected layer, we applied to LAYER / COLORS / TONE-SATURATION, and reduce the saturation to the maximum, forcing a ¡°gray scale¡±:
Reduced: 64% of original size [ 799 x 435 ] - Click to view full image
We duplicated the obtained layer and using anyone of these two methods we obtained the effect of wished change:
Method 1: Filtres / Colors / To Color (to apply range of colors)
Method 2: Layer / Colors / Coloring (to play with Tone, Saturation and Luminosity)
From that way we obtain the following results:
