This is the first tutorial og GIMP Plus. In this tutorial you will learn to create a Web 2.0 Page Icon with a curl effect at the corner with The GIMP.To begin , start with creating a new image of the size 512 * 512 pixels.All our new icons are of the size 512 px and this is of the demand today.So we will be creating 512 px icons i.e Leopard Ready Size .With this tutorial you can have page icons like following-

Create a new selection with the help of rectangle tool of the width 400 and height 465.Your windows should look like this :-

Now change your foreground color to “#ffffff” and background color to “#e5e5e5″ .Create a new layer and apply a blend with the gradient ” FG to BG “ from top right most to bottom left most of the selection as follows :-

Deselect the selection (Keyboard Short Cut - Ctrl + Shift + A ) .In the meanwhile you can also delete or hide the background layer as it is no longer needed.

Now make a selection as follows in the top right corner -

Now go to Filters -> Distorts -> Pagecurl…

And apply it with the following settings :-

You should have the following effect now -

Now Select the Curl Layer and go to Filters- Light and Shadow - Drop Shadow and using the following settings apply it :-

You will have the following result now :-

Our Icon is almost ready, we just need a bit of finishing to it.Select the main page layer and apply drop shadow to it once again with the following settings -

Our icon is now ready .You can use it wherever you like
