    Tutorial is written for Paint Shop Pro 7. The methods used are compatible with Paint Shop Pro 8, 9 and 10.

    1 Start a new 300x200 pixels, 16 million colors and white background image.

    Pick  the Drawing Tool and set foreground color to White.  Draw a Point-to-Point line as shown in Figure 1.

    Note: Please refer to

    2 Pick the Text Tool and follow the Fill Style Settings as shown.

    Place the text cursor over the line. The cursor will turn into a symbol which represents Vector Text on a path (See Figure 2).

    Left click and this will bring out the text dialogue box.

    3 While on the text dialogue box, enter a text (any font type and size) and choose.  Enable "Floating" and "Anti-alias".

    Hit Ok and you should have the text on a line.

    Place a copy of the text selection into your clipboard [CTRL+C].  Use [CTRL+E] to paste the clipboard content (text selection) into an existing image.

    4 Well, we can apply the same technique to create some wires. Pick the Text Tool and set the styles as shown at the right image.

    Fill is set to Sunburst Gradient with Vertical and Horizontal Offset is set to 50.

    Place the text cursor over the line. The cursor will turn into a symbol which represents Vector Text on a path (See Figure 2).  Left click and this will bring out the text dialogue box

    5 Follow these settings under the Text Dialogue box
    Font = Eklektic-Normal
    Size = 18
    Floating and Anti-alias are enabled
    Text = "IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII" (letter I)

    See screenshot
    Figure 4

    Note for Paint Shop Pro 9 Users:
    You will have to create the text as Vector.  Then, Convert Text to Curves > As Character Shapes under the Objects menu. Thanks to
    davidlee for this tip!

    6 Place a copy of the text selection into your clipboard [CTRL+C]Start a new image, then paste the clipboard content by pressing [CTRL+E].  While selection is active, apply a drop shadow (Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow).

    Drop Shadow Settings:
    Vertical and Horizontal Offset = 1
    Opacity = 100
    Blur = 0
    Shadow Color = Black

    Again, apply another Drop Shadow filter only this time,
    Vertical Offset = 4
    Horizontal Offset = -2
