In this tutorial you will see how to make this cool lightning effect in Adobe Photoshop with just a few easy steps.

1.
Start with a black background layer and then create an empty layer above it.
Go to custom shapes and choose the shape from the image below and drag it in the new layer.

Right click the shape layer and choose rasterize layer.
Go to filters -> distort -> ripples and give it max amount as in the image below.

Do it one more time, so it looks like the image below.

Now go to filters -> blur -> radical blur and set it as below.

Go to filters -> distort -> spherize and set it as the image below, then your image should look like the second image below.

6.
Go to image -> adjustments -> hue and saturations and drag the handles so the object turn yellow.

7.
Make a copy of the layer containing the object, again go to hue and saturations and drag so the new layers object turns red.

8.
At last set the top layer containing the red objects layer blending mode to hue so the image should look like this.
