In this tutorial, we will learn how to create a snow capped effect on our text. This is a useful design concept for snow related themes, such as snowboarding themes or ski companies
1. Open a new document in Photoshop. Choose a canvas size that will fit for your text.
2. Choose a light blue color for your text to give the feel of cold ice.
3. Select the Magic Wand tool and select the white area outside of the text.
4. Goto Select > Inverse.
5. Goto Select > Modify > Expand. Choose a small number to expand the selection just a little bit. I chose 2 pixels.
6. Create a new layer. Make sure it is the active layer you are working on.
7. Select the Paint Bucket Tool. Choose white as your forground color and fill the selection with white.
8. Open the Layers Properties for the top layer.
9. On the "Inner Shadows" properties, make the following changes:
10. Click OK and you should now have some shading to your snow.
11. Select the Eraser tool. Erase the bottom half of the white snow from the text.
12. You may need to zoom in and round off some corners to make it appears like snow on top of the text.
13. Open the Layers Properties for the Type layer.
14. On the "Inner Shadows" properties, make the following changes:
15. Click OK and you should now have your Snow Capped text effect.
