In this tutorial, we are going to learn to use a text effect that will apply a white glossy highlight to a lemon lime colored text. This is a nice text effect, because it applies some texture to the text to give it a more lime style look. You can apply this effect to any font that you desire to get even more interesting results
1. Open new document in Photoshop.
2. Create a new layer.
3. Select the Gradient Tool and apply a light to dark green gradient to the canvas from top to bottom.
4. Goto Filter > Noise > Add Noise.
5. Appy the following parameters:
6. Your canvas should now look like the following image.
7. Create a new layer.
8. Select the Paint Bucket Tool and fill the layer with yellow.
9. Apply the same Noise filter steps 4 and 5 from above to the layer.
10. Change the layer blending mode to "Overlay".
11. Type out the text that you want to apply the lemon lime effect.
12. Select the Magic Wand Tool and click outside the text.
13. Turn off the visibility for the text layer.
14. Create a new layer. Call it "Lemon Lime".
15. You should have something similar to the following image below:
16. Hit the Delete key and you should now have your lemon lime text.
17. Open the layer properties for the Lemon Lime layer.
18. Apply the following to the "Drop Shadow" properties:
19. Apply the following to the "Inner Shadow" properties:
20. Apply the following to the "Bevel and Emboss" properties:
21. Click OK to accept the changes and you should have the following effect.
22. Turn the visibility for the type layer back on.
23. Select the Magic Wand Tool. Click outside the type area.
24. Goto Select > Inverse.
25. Goto Select > Modify > Contract. Choose 2 pixels.
26. Create a new layer and call it "Highlight".
27. Select the Paint Bucket Tool and fill the selected area with white.
28. Click CTRL + D to deselect. You should now have the following image.
29. Select the Eliptical Marquee Tool and create a small circular selection on the bottom half of the beginning letters.
30. Click the Delete key to remove the bottom half of the highlights from the beginning letters.
31. Repeat the previous steps 29 and 30 to delete other sections of the highlights.
32. You are done. You should now have your lemon lime text effect!
