  • Chamfer Tutorial for beginners

    This segment of tutorial exercise provides step by step instruction on creating a chamfer on an existing solid body.  
     
    1) Create a box as shown in Figure 1. {See Extrude - Tutorial for beginner to learn how the box is made}

    2) Select "Extrude" tool from the tool bar or from menu bar or just type "CHAMFER" in the command line as shown in figure 2, 3 and 4 respectively.

    3) When you select chamfer tool you are prompted to select first line to be chamfered as shown in Figure 5.

    4) Now select an edge as shown in Figure 6.

    5) After selecting the object you are prompted to enter surface selection option for which I have selected ok as shown in Figure 7.

    6) After entering surface selection option you are prompted to specify base surface chamfer distance as shown in Figure 7. I have entered 1 as the distance as shown in Figure 7 .

    7) After entering base surface chamfer distance you are prompted to specify other surface chamfer distance as shown in Figure 9, just right click now as you don't need to specify other chamfer distance.

    8) Now you are prompted to select an edge as shown in Figure 10. I have selected an edge as shown in Figure 11

    9) Now just press enter in the keyboard or right click in the mouse and select enter from the drop down list as shown in Figure 12.

    10) The resultant chamfered solid would be as shown in Figure 13.
