  • Polygon Selection

Sometimes you're going to want to give different polygons of the same object a different
color or texture, this can be done by setting a polygon selection.

    1. Create a sphere and make it editable ( )

    2. Go to the polygon selection tool on the left toolbar ( ) and select some polygons.
Use the shift key to select more than one!

    3. With the polygons selected go to Selection>Set Selection

    4. The selection tag will appear behind the sphere in the objects manager.

    5. Click on the selection tag behind the sphere object. In it's properties give it a name. I've called mine "text"

    6. Now make two different textures, i've made one blue and one red.
Drag BOTH textures onto the sphere behind the selection tag.

    7. Click on one of the textures to bring up its properties. I've selected the red texture.
In the properties type the name of your selection, in my case "text" into the selection box.

    8. Now deselect the tags and textures and go back into object mode. The red texture will
only be shown on the polygons I selected, the rest use the other texture.

It's generally better to have the base texture BEFORE the selection tag, and place the texture
for each tag just behind the tag. This makes it easier for you when you start
using a lot of selections for a single object.
