  • How to Extract Media [Images] from DOCx douments [Tutorial]

    Author: 2009-07-22 04:01:57 From:

    1. Download and Install Universal Extractor (free)
    2. Right-click the .docx document and select ‘Open With’ (if in Vista select “Choose Default Program…”)
    3. Vista: Uncheck the box at the bottom “Always use the selected program to open this kind of file“.
    4. If Universal Extractor does not appear in your list of choices, you may have to browse to it. It is located in C:\Program Files\Universal Extractor\ (64Bit users: replace Program Files with Program Files (x86) )
      menu
    5. Open the docx file with Universal Extractor. Optionally, after installing Universal Extractor you can open the file with WinRar.

    6. Extract to a preferred destination and then browse in the extraction folder to \word\media.
    7. In that folder you will see all the images and media incorporated in the word document (docx)

    Method 2

You can just rename the .docx file to a .zip extension and treat that as a normal zip file. The default zip explorer built in windows should read it as a normal zip file and you can extract it as any other zip file.

    Conclusion

A very simple and easy to use ‘hack’ to extract all the media from a .docx file without the need of copying and pasting. Hope it helps!
