Once you download these two programs and install them on your machine, whenever you download a file that can be extracted with that program, you will notice a Winzip, or Winrar icon. If you want to extract the contents of these files on your computer, you have to double click on the file that you downloaded. When you double click on the file, it will launch either Winzip or Winrar. It will give you many options, you merely want to highlight the file compressed library. You will then right click it with the mouse, while still highlightning the file. You want to EXTRACT the file, do this on your computer where it is easily accessible (usually the DESKTop) Once it is it on your desktop it is easy to program your receiver. All new receivers have a USB drive. It load the files on your machine it as simple as looking at your DESKTOP now and finding the file that you have just extracted. You can right click on the file, and select COPY. Then, goto MY COMPUTER and select the USB drive that you have connected to your computer, once on the USB drive, right click again, and select PASTE. This in
effects copies the file from your DESKTOP to your USB drive, you are then unable to plug the USB drive into your receiver, and select the file with the remote control. Older receivers work with a Serial cable. The process remains the same once you have extracted the file on your desktop. You merely plug your receiver into your computer via a Serial/Null Modem/or USB to Serial cable. Then you select the file with your remote control and you are in good shape.
