  • How to Create a Green and Silver Cross Menu

    Author: 2008-08-14 10:08:05 From:

In this Microsoft FrontPage tutorial I will show you how to create a Green and Silver Cross Menu. Please see the image that I have provided to see the ending results of this tutorial. This is a thick cross menu that I applied a gradient to. I also reshaped the cross to make it thicker. Go ahead and open your FrontPage program and we will get started.

How to Create a Green and Silver Cross Menu in Microsoft FrontPage

We will draw the menu first. Open your Auto Shapes toolbar by clicking Insert > Picture > Auto Shapes. When your toolbar pops up, click the Basic Shapes icon. Then click on the Cross shape. Draw the cross on your page. The size of the cross will depend on how many links you are going to need. You can resize the menu once you have added the links. Now you will need to drag the yellow diamond outward to make the cross thicker. The thickness of the cross will depend on your taste.

Next, we will apply the gradient effect to the menu. Click on the menu to select it. Then open your Gradient box. If you don't know how, click the little arrow beside the paint bucket at the bottom of the window, then click the Fill Effects link to open your gradient box. Click on the Gradient Tab in the box. Select the Two Colors and apply Teal to the Color 1 box. Apply White to Color 2 box. Leave the Transparency field at 0%. For the Shading Style, tick the Vertical field. Click the bottom left box in the Variant section. Then click the OK button to apply the gradient effect.

The next step is to apply a border. Click the arrow beside the paint brush and click More Line Colors. When the More Colors box pops up, enter Hex={16,82,82} in the Value field. Click OK to apply the color. Click on the Border Style icon and select the 1 pt border. You can choose a thinner or thicker border if you want.

The next step of this Microsoft FrontPage tutorial is to add the text to the menu. Right click in the middle of the menu and click Add Text from the pop up menu. A text field will appear in your menu. Type your text in that field.

The last step is to make your links clickable. Highlight a link and right click on it. When the menu pops up, click Hyperlink. The Hyperlink window will pop up and you will need to type the link in the bottom field. Click OK to apply the link. Repeat this step to create your links.

You can resize the menu if you need too. If you have any problems with this Microsoft FrontPage tutorial, please feel free to leave me a comment at the bottom of this page
