Make a metal looking text

In this tutorial, we’re going to make a metallic effect for the text.

Open a new document in Photoshop. Use some dark gray to fill the background. You can use the Bucket Tool or to go Edit / Fill and then choose the color. I’ll go with #535353 gray. Now pick a font type and size. For the font color choose light gray. Mine pick is arial black type with anti-aliasing set on strong and color #a9a9a9. Write something.

Go to Blending Options for the text layer. Set the Outer Glow on something like this:

Now add Inner Glow with the settings similar with these:

Next one is Gradient Overlay:

Add a Stroke:

Duplicate the text layer. Set the copy underneath the original text layer and above the background layer. Right-click on the copy and choose Clear Layer Style. Set the Fill on 0%.

Now apply the Stroke:

Create a new layer above the original text layer (Layer / New / Layer…). Hold down a ctrl key and click on text layer. Now fill the selection with white. Set the opacity on 50%. Deselect the selection.
